What the DE Rantau Nomad Pass Really Costs

Two kinds of cost: non-refundable fees, and a refundable bond. Here's the full picture — before our service fee, which we always quote separately.

Before you read

NomadsVisa is an independent consultancy and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to MDEC (Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation) or any Malaysian government agency. Official DE Rantau applications are made at mdec.my/derantau. We do not provide legal or tax advice, and our fees are separate from any government application or processing fees. Information on this site is for general guidance only and may change — always confirm current requirements with the official source. Details of the Enhanced DE Rantau Nomad Pass Framework reflect MDEC's FAQ (v1) published in 2026; where they differ, MDEC's latest official requirements prevail.

Our processing fee

This is what NomadsVisa charges to prepare and lodge your application, quoted upfront with nothing added later.

The refundable bond

If you can't find a company sponsor, MDEC can sponsor you — which requires a personal / security bond, refunded when your pass expires. The amount depends on your nationality. Indicative bands:

BondExample nationalities
RM 2,000USA, Canada, Colombia, and several African nations
RM 1,500Australia, China, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Taiwan, Vietnam, “Others”
RM 1,000Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao
RM 750India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Philippines
RM 500Indonesia
RM 300Thailand
RM 200Singapore

Bond amounts come from MDEC's fee table and can change — always confirm the current figure for your nationality at mdec.my/derantau.

So what's the total?

Roughly: our non-refundable processing fee (RM 1,000) + any MEV charge + a refundable bond (RM 200–2,000 depending on nationality). Dependents add RM 500 each. Everything is quoted upfront, with our fee shown separately from any government charge.

Renewals

MDEC says there are currently no changes to the renewal fee under the Enhanced Framework (effective 1 December 2026), though it may review it in future with notice through official channels. Application and renewal fees are non-refundable once processing starts — whether the application is approved, rejected or withdrawn.
